With her 2 hands and not much else!!

Updating : 22/12/2005

Alix Labarsouque is native of Lyon and is passionate about transitory decoration. For receptions, marriages and other ceremonies, she is the champion of really unusual table decorations which enchant guests. She explains to us how to proceed.

This beautiful woman of manifest Slavic origins is not sparing with her talent. She gives her advice with pleasure to her clients and even to others, ourselves for instance. For more than ten years now, she has been running a very beautiful deco shop in Lyon, in which there is the most astonishing collection of paper table napkins in the area, and perhaps even all of France if we believe some of the professionals.

In the shop's alleys, there are also the «Point à la Ligne» collection candles, but also some others even more original as well as table decorations.

The 'must' of this year, the monumental candelabras with acanthus inspired from the 18th century, major period of the "à la française" decoration. Made of resin, it is really quite something and it costs almost nothing!  There are also the baroque angels with brocade dresses, trimmed with fur and which you feel like inviting to your table.

On the first floor, there is the 200 m2 workshop, where personalized decorations are made.

Because Alix is not jealous of her art, as previously mentioned, she invites her clients to empty their cupboards and to bring her all kinds of personal objects which she transforms or that she teaches how to customize. She recommends using seasonal fruits, such as apples and kakis, you can spray with gold or silver paint or which can also be dressed in red, here a ribbon and there pompoms and pendants. The paper napkins are artistically folded, using them double and if it is difficult for you, Alix and her assistants do it themselves. She uses spices, which are, as she says, the «jewels of Christmas» as they allow adding scents to lights. What more appetizing than a table with the scent of cinnamon!

Every year, she realizes for her clients more than 2000 Christmas tables, without prejudging all the others, realized at home by the hostess and inspired by the Alix' art, using artichokes, pearls, pain d'épice (kind of gingerbread with honey) iced with sugar and cut into star-shaped pieces and thousands of other objects inspired by her art. The important thing is to have a luxuriant and joyful celebration.

"A table is never too charged during the festive season" says Alix with stars sparkling in her eyes, spangles on her cheekbones and on her artisans' apron. Some restaurants swear by her. The «Hôtel de Digoine» in Bourg Saint Andéol in Ardèche for instance, a beautiful building from the 18th century who clearly knows what good taste means. She is also one of the principal participants of the "Les Coulisses du Mariage" (wedding sidelines) exhibition,  initiated by 1001 lists. No doubt, in her specialty, Alix is a tsarina. Let's imitate her!
