The event
Updating : 06/10/2005
The 16th edition of taste week will take place from October 10th to 16th with initiatives at the four corners of the Rhône-Alpes region. Chefs, producers, schools, canteens, everybody puts his shoulder to the wheel. An event this year, it is in Lyon that the taste round will settle for its first stage, on October 14th and 15th at Place Carnot.

The taste week is now a real event. Every year in autumn everybody is mobilised for its success. And it is urgent because the taste standardization is threatening us and it is necessary to pass this heritage on to our children.
Results can already be seen, because now, numerous young people are interested in what is good and tasty. That's great! A great number of regional initiatives have already been undertaken and some others will be added at the last minute. (They will be set up on the event location). Small inventory as per Prévert in an appetizing selection.

The Sweets Palace in Montélimar is to be discovered, even if the immoderate love for sugar is not, strictly speaking, a good thing for young teeth, sweets are one of the real charms of childhood and Montélimar, with its nougat, has been made champion of it.
You will assist in direct, in the making of humbugs, barley sugar, marshmallow, black nougat, calisson (lozenge-shaped sweets made of ground almonds), crystallized fruits with tasting-sessions on Friday October 14th from 2 p.m. to 6.30 p.m..
At the Musée du Revermont at Cuisat in the Ain department, amateurs are invited to cook pumpkin stew. After all Halloween is not so far away.
At the restaurant Les Terrasses in Uriage (Isère), it is an all chocolate menu which will be served for dinner on Thursday October 13th under the leadership of Gérald Délice's pastry shop in Crolles, the event organizer. With wines in harmony...
Bread has the place of honour with the "Association des Amis des Musées du Pays de l'Ain et Patrimoine" (museums of the Ain country and heritage Friends' Association). The beautiful slice of a round loaf, on which you spread vincuit (kind of apple and pear jam), strong cheese..., toasted in the fire-place or simply eaten during work in the fields, is part of our history, but the slice of bread is today very "trendy" and numerous works are devoted to it.

Also to be noted an exhibition "Plants on the table" in the orangery of Parc de la Tête d'Or in Lyon from October 13th to January 8th and the famous taste round that will settle in Place Carnot in Lyon on October 14th and 15th, after it had invested the Place du Trocadéro in Paris last year. Under the big top there will be exhibitions, games, initiating lessons, cookery workshops and activities for children,...
Undoubtedly, a week is too short to taste everything!
