Contemporary Art moves into Saint Etienne

Saint Etienne is now well beyond a conception of design which would be similar to a simple logic of industrial aestheticism. By exploring the subject and with the «Flight number ten " exhibition, and also by having a particular look at designers who have marked the previous editions, the Cité du Design can propose a larger conception of design.

In 2008, all the animations of the biennial event will be closely connected with the evolution of societies and with the world of designers in the role of links,

With a dimension necessarily attached to environment, but beyond sustainable development, to which we shall prefer the notion of tenable development. This is the subject of the main exhibition "City Eco Lab" of John Thackara.

Another strong moment, with Catherine Beaugrand's "Sugoroku", which proposes "Urban Gaming", an immersive game on the scale of the city and " the Huge Apartment " of the College of Art and Design of Saint-Etienne.

The second edition of the exhibition «Demain, c'est aujourd'hui»  (Tomorrow, is today) by Claire Fayolle will propose an exploration into the heart of research by design of various companies.

Last but not least of these teeming two weeks, the "Design and Shop" exhibition which moves into the city centre with the cooperation of thirty shops fully involved in this brilliant subject which makes Saint Etienne a modern city not to be missed.
