This autumn, the Rugby World Cup 2007 will steal the show from the round ball in Rhône-Alpes both towns where football is king. Six competitions are organized in Lyon and Saint Etienne. But it is in Isère that the oval ball blooms all year long, and especially in Bourgoin Jallieu and La Mure, for example ...

Spectacles, exhibitions, - among which the works of Jean-Pierre Rives, former international player and now a sculptor- on the banks of the Rhône: giant screens, concerts, animations, Beach Rugby and Touch Rugby competitions within the context of "Rugby des Lacs", a promotional operation which has been circulating in Rhône-Alpes all summer long, Everything concerning Rugby is highlighted.
For the occasion, one can see the remake of the show "Vestiaires" (Changing rooms) * featuring eighteen comedians in a rugby changing room, battling against the rites which constitute a welded and united pack (in this respect, you must absolutely retain the date of September 15th in Lyon, which is the date of the confrontation between New Zealand - the famous All Blacks -
and Portugal!).

Solidarity is one of the keywords of rugby and this is something that every miner used to practice when going down to the bottom of the pits in La Mure, in Isère and on the matheysin plateau, so that the security of the teams was always insured.
When Returning to the surface, the miners of La Mure used to meet on the rugby field. Since then the mines have been closed, but rugby spirit and competitions are still there; Paul Fontebasso, educative trainer and also, director of the Musée de la Mine, maintains the flame.
He also salutes the performances of prestigious teams such as the CSBJ in Bourgoin Jallieu, classified as elite, which literally and figuratively rubs itself, against the greatest clubs of the South West. But he does not forget to clarify that there are schools of rugby such as the one of La Mure, but also Montmélian, Vinay and Grenoble, which feed great clubs with champions. In this particular case Isère is discreet, but it is a great place for rugby.
