It is already more than thirty years that the most beautiful jazz voices have invested the lanes between the old houses, the little squares and Provençal areas, all around the keep of Crest, a delightful drômois village. Jazz lovers would miss this festival for nothing in the world ...
Crest Jazz Vocal has always known how to attract the giants of jazz, all those who use this mode of expression to express themselves by their voice.
It is still the case, this year, with Robin Mc Kelle, the "new USA phenomenon" and her real talent for scat. She presents her new album "Modern Antique" in which she revisits standards of the 50s and 60s, with a touch of blues, by interpreting "Go to Hell" by the great Nina Simone.
Among other events; gipsy jazz and Thomas Dutronc; Rabih Abou Khalil and his oriental sensitivity for a unique date this summer in France, and the thundering Emir Kusturica and The No Smoking Orchestra.
One can remember that the director of "Chat noir, chat blanc" had set fire to the Croisette with his guitar when he chaired the film festival in Cannes, some years ago. His group is one of the most unusual of the Balkans and he mixes the original soundtracks of his own films with music of "the Punk Opera: Le Temps des Gitans". Something which adds some degrees to the sun of the summer in Crest!
