Delight and lights

One hundred and fifty years ago, Lyon inhabitants put candles on their windows and roamed through the city, to thank the Virgin Mary for having saved them from the plague. Today and since 2001, the most beautiful of Lyon's traditions, which attracts more than four million visitors, takes place over four days.

It is a question of great fervour, because everyone wants to be there and even if the greatest visual artists and the most prestigious light designers are still numerous to take over the chosen places, this year, Lyon's citizens, will be making even more contribution to the event,

With the candle lights from the Heart, the brilliant fresco in Place Bellecour, majestic and showing solidarity and, energy saving. Each person can get a candle to participate in its realization; they will be sold for two euros for the benefit of Restos du Cœur (association for destitute people).

Otherwise, there are more than seventy ‘light' rendezvous which can be admired throughout the city among which about twenty in Lyon Presqu'île, itself. With new sites such as Croix Paquet district, the Jardin des Plantes, Place de la Republique and the Guillotière terraces which were obvious because of their proximity with the famous Banks of the Rhône. The street lighting will be colourised and subdued.

And to help all the lost souls to better take advantage of the four days of the festival, guides provided with brilliant balloons will assist visitors, helping them find the best itineraries.

Do not miss the fishermen's huts on Place Louis Pradel, the sphere of light on Place des Terreaux, backlit lighting of the Basilique de Fourvière and the Louis XIV equestrian statue on Place Bellecour, under a luminous snowball ... Oh and finally, above all, miss nothing, it is all sublime!
