Reach for the moon
Updating : 25/02/2008
In Les 2 Alpes and in Clusaz, enthusiasts for unusual winter sports enjoy gliding in the milky light of the moon when it is full and when it lights the mountains at its maximum. Celebrating is also part of the rendezvous!

In Les 2 Alpes, one meets on the glacier, after 5 p.m. when the slopes are closed and one can ski until out of breath, at 3 200 metres and up to sunset.
Then, after a good meal in an altitude restaurant and a small visit to the ice cave, it is the descent with the ski patrolmen and the lights of the resort below. At the arrival, it is mulled wine for everyone.
It is now more than fifteen years that Oisans resort has called upon the full moon. The only condition for a successful night is that the weather is clear.

At La Clusaz, it is Philippe Gallay, President of the Tourist Office, who was inspired by Full Moon Parties in Thailand, when everyone meets on Haad Rin beach in the island of Koh Phan Ngan and lights small candles which go very high, all together into the sky for a magic spectacle.
Ski lifts of Patinoire, Crêt du Merle, Loup and Louveteau are opened between 9 p.m. and approximately 1 a.m. in the morning. Concerts are given on the terraces of altitude restaurants and, on the way back, one can dance and celebrate until dawn in the bars and discotheques of the resort. On full moon nights, Clusaz never sleeps!
