Truffles and huskies while staying at a guest house

At the  "Prieuré des Sources",we do everything we can to propose a  perfect package to clients all year long : swimming pool and hiking in summertime, truffle tasting-sessions, husky teams in winter and the pleasure of being warmly welcomed all year long.

Patrick Compigny could talk for ever about his "Prieuré des Sources". He has lived several lives, his colleagues also. Yet, like so many others, one day, they gave up computers, commercial and industrial businesses, to invest in, and invest themselves, in the Drôme department, just a stone's throw from Dieulefit and the Sâou forest. Jean-Jacques suddenly remembered that he had a baker/pastry cook diploma and got down to work at his stoves. Consequently, he has made his "table d'hôte", one of the best local restaurants and at present, you can savour matchless truffle menus and meals prepared with vegetables direct from the garden : "velouté de topinambours aux truffes" (cream of Jerusalem artichoke soup with truffles),   "Saint-Jacques fraîches poêlées aux truffes" (fresh scallops fried with truffles), "Poularde truffée et sa corne d'abondance de légumes frais" ( fattened chicken with truffles served with fresh vegetables), "Brillat savarin fourré aux truffes, (baba filled with truffles) and "Mousse aux trois chocolats aux truffes"... (Three chocolate mousse with truffles)

In summertime, the swimming pool is much appreciated and the idea of building an inside spa to offer well-being all year long, is growing in Patrick's mind.

 

In the meantime there is still the 13th century fireplace where it is so good to warm yourself when returning from a husky ride through the impressive snowy landscapes of south Vercors. There is also the possibility of savouring the truffles during the whole blessed season when the "melanosporum" tuber grows at the base of the local oak trees. This is the time when Jean-Jacques invests himself in the "black diamond" perfuming all his cooking with it.

The guests can enjoy the sumptuous ribbed-ceilinged rooms. Each room is between 40 and 80 m2, they are decorated by Patrick who goes hunting for original objects in Thailand and brings back hyacinth, teak and mahogany wood furniture.

 

The living-room is 110 m2 and as soon as you come into this beautiful Drôme house, peace and happiness come your way too. The owners themselves are full of the joys of life which they communicate to others. May they be thanked!

Room : 180 euros per night, based on 2 persons sharing a room, breakfast and fresh orange juice included. It is advisable to arrive early Saturday morning to profit from your stay until early Sunday evening.


The "table d'hôte" menu: 33 euros, drinks excluded.


The husky ride for half a day: 80 euros per person to be paid directly to the musher.
