Delights

This charming hotel well situated in the village of the Marquise de Sévigné, at Grignan, in the Drôme, is regularly frequented by artists and writers who appreciate the delicate atmosphere that the great letter writer loved above all. All those who have stayed at the Clair de la Plume remember it ...

It is a hotel without restaurant; the silence and peace of this place are thus even more respected. You can stay there all day long (the rooms are so pleasant) and offer yourself the pleasure of a quick snack in the tearoom, at lunch time or at tea time.
There, an impressive choice of teas from Mariage et Frères, Paris can be served, among which the famous Marco Polo, a black and floral tea. Also ... Syrups made by the monks of Aiguebelle Abbey, very close to Grignan and warm chocolates are also the stars of the menu.

Deserving a mention; hot chocolate from Maison Valrhôna or even the Italian ones, thick and creamy chocolates, with mint, gianduja, and meringue splinters ... And cakes such as at the half-cooked with chocolate and toffee, the "Galopin" with lemon and orange, the tepid apricot cake with rosemary.
So many delights that invite you to settle down for a moment, in this lovely house, built in the 17th century, on the request of Monsieur de Grignan and which has since known illustrious and singular owners.

Such as Madame Sourdive, one of Picasso's Muses, or even a Canadian Ambassador. You have lots of time to discover the village and the Drome Provençal, during high season and the off season, and to visit the Typography Museum, the Castle of Grignan and the exhibitions held in it all year round.
Then, take time to glance at the Golden book of the house. You will be able to see that you are not the only ones to appreciate its charm. The numerous cultural festivals which take place in the area, have conquered and attracted such people as; Macha Méril, Marie-Christine Barrault, Claire Chazal, Roland Giraud, Philippe and Françoise Labro, Arielle Dombasle and Bernard-Henri Lévy, the novelist Irene Frain, visitors or participants at the Correspondence Festival or the Night Festivals of the Castle. Enough to give you inspiration to put pen to paper ...
